How to choose a backpack

Laptop backpacks for work, everyday daypacks for commuting, travel backpacks when you need roll-on capacity. Match the bag to the day.

Fantana Voyager Laptop Backpack

Backpacks differ by how they organise tech, how much volume they hold, and whether they are meant to roll. Our Backpacks and Travel Backpacks collections cover those jobs with clear sizes on each product page.

Laptop backpacks

Choose a laptop backpack when you carry a notebook every day and want a structured body that protects it.

If you also need a briefcase-style option for desk days, compare with our Eagle Canary Laptop Bag in Bags.

Everyday backpacks

Everyday packs are lighter and smaller. They suit commuting, campus days, and short city trips.

  • Eagle Camden Tactical Backpack: tactical-grade polyester/nylon with reinforced top handle and water-resistant zippers for more utility-focused days.

Travel backpacks

Travel backpacks add capacity or wheels. They sit between a daypack and cabin luggage.

  • Fantana Shoreditch Backpack Trolley: 48 × 34 × 19.5 cm, 2.1 kg, combining a compact carry-on case with backpack straps and an extendable handle for rolling through airports.

Cabin size limits still belong to the airline. Check your airline’s current allowance and compare against the dimensions listed on the product.

Match the pack to the trip

A simple way to choose:

  • Office and train days: Shoreditch Laptop Backpack at 48 × 34 × 19.5 cm, or step across to the Eagle Canary laptop bag if you prefer a brief-style carry.
  • Light city days: Shoreditch Backpack at 0.5 kg, or a Peter James daypack when you want a softer fashion silhouette. The [Berkeley Backpack](/products/peter-james-berkeley-backpack) adds a front zip pocket, dual side zippers, top grab handle, and padded straps.
  • Airport days: Shoreditch Backpack Trolley when you want to roll through the terminal and wear the bag on stairs or cobblestones.

If your packing list fills a hard case, keep the backpack as your personal item and choose the case from Cabin Luggage. The backpack then holds the items you need during the journey, while the case holds the rest.

Weight is another useful signal on our pages. Shoreditch daypack is listed at 0.5 kg. The laptop backpack and backpack trolley sit at 2.1 kg because they add structure, and in the trolley case, rolling hardware. Pick the lighter pack when you walk more than you roll. Pick the trolley when terminals and long concourses are the main path.

Still unsure? Open Backpacks, compare the three Shoreditch options side by side, then add a Peter James or Eagle style only if you want a different material story.

Quick path. Notebook every day: laptop backpack. Light commute: everyday pack. Gate-to-gate travel: travel backpack or trolley. Shop Backpacks and Travel Backpacks.
